- ちんじゅふ【鎮守府】(1)旧日本海軍で， 主要な軍港に置かれ各海軍区の警備， 部隊の監督などを行なった機関。 第二次大戦敗戦時には横須賀・呉・佐世保・舞鶴の四鎮守府があった。(2)古代， 蝦夷(エゾ)地経営のために陸奥(ムツ)国に置かれた軍政府。 はじめ多賀城にあり， のち胆沢(イザワ)城に移った。
